The 16,533 SF Mid-America Orthopedics facility in Leawood includes an Ambulatory Surgery Center and a Clinic. Separate entries delineate the functions and each has its own reception/waiting room and office area. The 6,432 SF ASC has two operating rooms, a procedure room, an 8-bed recovery area, nurses’ station, locker rooms and sterile storage. The 7,724 SF Clinic has 14 exam rooms, nurses’ station, x-ray, lab and a physical therapy gymnasium with cork/rubber flooring and exposed ceilings highlighted by circular LED lighting mounted at varying heights.
Exterior materials include cut stone, brick, stucco and decorative steel canopies. A synthetic slate, mansard-style roof complies with development standards and conceals rooftop mechanical units. Other amenities include a partial basement for storage and equipment, a full-building generator and a plaza area that overlooks an adjacent pond.
The warm gray and blue interior palette features nature-inspired patterns, mahogany wood trim, and stained wood ceilings at the reception desks and nurses’ stations. The natural theme is further enhanced by cut stone that carries into both waiting rooms from the exterior columns.
