Project Description:
The Chapel at Central Landing is a 10,420 SF, 300-seat addition to Central Community Church that provides a more intimate congregational space for events overwhelmed by the main 2,700-seat sanctuary.
The Chapel’s Romanesque-style proportions, with the height being 1.3 times greater than the width, convey a sense of upward movement and perimeter, diagonally-divided clerestory windows enhance the structure verticality and provide natural lighting. The Chapel’s covered entry opens to a foyer and pew seating with central aisle and two flanking ambulatories. A grand hall leads to the hearth and bridal rooms and provides connection to the Church. The anterior stage includes a choir platform and advanced audio-visual system with two side-mounted, pivoting monitors. Interior finishes feature a natural, clean appearance lending to the dimensional order of the space and providing versatility for varied event décor. Specialty lighting includes tunable fixtures that control the light temperature/color and accent fixtures that provide highlights and varied colors.
The adjacent Chapel Garden features a covered pavilion as well as four-season turf, paved walkways, a fireplace, a stone veneer screen wall and ornamental iron fencing.
